We have an immediate opening for an energetic, passionate & experienced Full Time Professional to join our Merchandising team as an Assistant Merchant (Karl Lagerfeld Paris).

This position provides daily coordination and serves as liaison between departments to support the Merchant. Performs a wide variety of high-level administrative support to include: merchandising strategies, product selection, in-season analysis, product development, communication with the marketing team managing markdowns and promotions, and creating product knowledge. Provides data entry and analysis, process coordination, product maintenance and Merchant support.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion/Retail Merchandising, or similar required.
  • Minimum 2-3 year retail experience in store leadership role or corporate Merchandising function required.
  • Successful completion of a retail merchandising, fashion, or buying internship program preferred.
  • Experience with business numbers and metrics and exposure to allocation, planning and/or buying that provided retail management systems experience is preferred.
  • Possesses written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly preferred previous SKU intensive category management.
  • Must be proactive, multi-tasking and detail-oriented with a well-developed set of interpersonal skills that allows for working with multiple departments and multiple levels of associates often times in an ambiguous environment.
  • Computer/Excel skills, independence, decision-making skills and strong organizational skills also required.
  • Basic business acumen required.

Responsibilities:

Systems Data Entry and Maintenance

  • Create all style creations and purchase order entry forms after each market.
  • Set-up, coordination and maintenance of all vendor information such as requesting shipping updates, communicating and resolving SKU issues and follow-up on samples.
  • Style maintenance including but not limited to: price changes, stat code updates, attribute details.
  • Coordination with Distribution/Logistics and vendors with tracking of shipments.
  • Liaison between buyer, tech PO set up, planner and vendor to accurately understand purchase orders being written and accurately being communicated to vendor.

Price Management and Promotions

  • Assists with pricing strategy on all product styles.
  • Assists with the management of markdowns and exit strategies for product.
  • Keying of price changes and making sure they "tie" back to visual merchandising direction and final audit of on all product data in merchandising systems.

Buying Responsibilities

  • Manage the SKU assortment and assortment line sheets for categories.
  • Coordinates the manage of the life cycle of the product while in stores. Partners on tactical implementation of the Company's merchandising strategies for current, new and old product.
  • Provides communication coordination between stores, merchandising and the distribution center to ensure that product new receipts are timely and communicated.
  • Assists with visual floorsets seasonally and monthly.
  • Assists with product development approval samples and details for categories.
  • Partners with allocation to analyze sales history and maximize store sales.
  • Coordinates with Buyers on developing key categories, reviewing samples, coordinating with open-to-buys and achieving key financial measures.

Miscellaneous Duties & Projects

  • Sample maintenance.
  • Ad hoc reporting, data analysis and making recommendations.
  • Weekly presentations of product analysis to executive group.

Other Information:

The pay range for this position is: $60k per year - $70k per year. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.

  • Analyze environmental aspects of competing merchandise when making buying decisions.
  • Compare transportation options to determine the most energy efficient options.
  • Develop strategies to advertise green products or merchandise to consumers.
  • Identify opportunities to buy green commodities, such as alternative energy, water, or carbon-neutral products for resale to consumers.
  • Monitor consumer preferences or environmental trends to determine the best way to introduce new green products.
