She was the wife of Donald Robert Jex (Captain, USN Ret.) who predeceased her. Born in Holy-oke, MA on October 29, 1 919 to Theodore James Yeanopoulos and Marika (Soliotis) Yeanopoulos, she was the third of four children. She was predeceased by her pa re nts, her iste Pe-nelope Zarvis of San Jose, CA, and her two brothers, Charles T. Young and James T.

Young, both of Newport, Rl. Bess was a very special lady both personally and professionally. After graduating from Bay Path Institute in the Class of 1939, she enjoyed a 23 year career with the Army, Air Force and Navy. During her 14 years with the Navy, she was secretary to the head of the Newport Naval Base, Admiral James Buchanon. One of her proudest achievements was to obtain a top secret clearance and presidential pass for Presidents Dwight D.

Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, both of whom she was privileged to meet during their frequent vacations to Newport. The base was considered the "Summer White While working at the naval base, Bess was instrumental in writing and publishing a booklet on Naval Social Customs, to provide assistance to the junior officer's wives and it was later republished by the Navy Wife-line Association in Washington, DC as a national publication. In November 1969, she accompanied her husband to Seoul, Korea, where he was assigned as Chief of Staff to the Commander, Naval Forces Korea. For the first time in its history, the Seoul area American Officer's Wive's Club elected a Navy wife, Bess, as its President.

The club was active in community and welfare projects related to servicemen and their families as well as to the Korean children. She and her board raised thousands of dollars for charities, scholarships and medical equipment, both in Korea and the United States. On a personal level, Bess enjoyed all kinds of music and was a terrific dancer. Always impeccably dressed, she particularly loved her hats. She leaves her niece, Marina Vasiliki Young-Kelly, two nephews, Theodore James Young and Chris Charles Young, two great-nieces and goddaughters, Sandra Press and Stephanie Hazan, two great-nieces, Nicole Young and Kachael Millik, a great-nephew, Ryan Hazinakas; and her great-great nephew and freat-great-niece, Sam and oe Hazan.

Boston dftobe ENDYKE, Mary Ellen Brosnan Beloved mother and grand mother passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on March 26, 201 5. Mary was born to Cornelius and Catherine Brosnan on June 12, 1935 in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and earned a B.A. from Merrimack College in 1957.

Her teaching career began in Acton, MA where she taught from 1957-1959. She married Walter Endyke in 1 958, becoming a full-time mother to their 7 children. While enjoying homemaking and volunteering at Holy Family Hospital, her children were always her highest priority, from whom she received her greatest joy and fulfillment. 1968 she returned to teaching at the Leahy School in Lawrence. She taught grades 3-5 while earning her Masters of Education from the niversity of Lowell in 1977.

She served as Assistant Principal from 1987-1989. During this time she received a commendation from WCVB TV's "Class Act" series for her 'Project Order' initiative designed to promote self-discipline through a peer ranking system. Mary organized ancTdirected annual tafent shows performed at the Lawrence High School Auditorium. These and other Leahy School memories were often mentioned when seeing other st nts through the years. Mary retired from teaching in 1994.

After her childre were grown and married, her love of teaching led her to volunteer at the Asian Center of Merrimack Valley where she taught Citizenship, ESL and Creative Writing cfasses. As a parishioner at St. Monica's Church in Methuen, she served as Eucha-ristic Minister, a member of the Rights of Christian Initiation for Adults team and a singer in the St. Monica's choir. Mary loved singing and later joined the Methuen Senior Center's Happy Hearts choral group.

She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, sewing and Mass and coffee with old friends. Her loving companion, Louis Ambrosino who recently passed away was by her side for many of these happy moments. She is survived by her sons Peter Endyke and his wife Karen, Walter Endyke and his wife Joan, Thomas Endyke and his wife Pamela, Daniel Endyke and his wife Gale; her daughters Mary Louise Hubbert and her husband Gregory, Elizabeth Simon and her husband Steven, Ellen O'Brien and her husband John; 13 grandchildren; and her sister Elizabeth Leonard. She was preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Martin Brosnan of Lowell, MA. The Farm continued to be a source of joy, comfort and love throughout her life. She attended Radcliffe College and received her degree in Psychology. She then joined the Navy W.A.V.E.S. and was chosen as a decoder during WWII. While stationed in Washington, DC, she met her husband.

Rod eric, who predeceased her in 1 990 after 45 years of marriage. She worked as a Teacher's Aide in the Newton South High School Library for many years but always took time to volunteer and to help others. Maddie was very active with a tremendous sense of adventure and love of the great outdoors. She was passionate about horses, loved to sail, camp, hike, swim, and so much more. She traveled at every opportunity throughout the US and Canada as well as visiting a number of foreign countries.

Her love of nature inspired her to collect rocks, pine cones, and seashells. She loved to play games of all kinds. A woman of faith, she set a strong example by how she lived her life. She was loved by all who knew her. A memorial service will take place at a later date to be announced.
